{March 30, 2014}   Hibernate the Time Away

^^ Yep, that’s totally me!

{February 2, 2014}   Not in my Bed

image

Good God… I’m never getting laid again. Not in my lair anyway. My bed has clearly been taken over by much hair-ier creatures. I too must sleep curled up in a tiny ball to keep from being pushed onto the floor.
This must be what it’s like to have children.

P.S.
Don’t go getting all offended by the above content. I’m just saying what we’ve all thought at one time or another.

{October 20, 2013}   A Cat? A Dog? A Toddler?
Babe and I reading a book.

Babe and I reading a book.

My cat, Babe, doesn’t seem to know what she is. She looks like a cat, acts like a dog and sits like a toddler in it’s mother’s lap. However, Babe is my best friend in the world. She’s nonjudgmental, she loves me no matter what mood I’m in, she doesn’t nag or ask endless questions and she’s always loving. If Babe were a person instead of a cat she’d be my soul mate, not doubt.

This revelation comes at a time when I’m mourning a friendship that has recently ended. I was pretty much over it when it ended, it was me who said “enough, I can’t do this anymore”, but the former friend won’t let sleeping dogs lie. She is understandably angry about how the friendship suddenly ceased to be and it seems that every other day she is texting me something outrageous and accusing. This is very much the reason I had to end the friendship in the way that I did. She is mentally ill and refuses to seek help. Unfortunately, I cannot help her and I was hoping that by walking away like I did she would realize that her friends have disappeared one by one and by no one’s fault except her own, and somehow she would see that she needs to get help. So far it has not worked out that way. This evening while driving around and enjoying my music I received yet another unpleasant text from this woman. She is now accusing me of stealing $5,000 from her… last week. It’s been at least a month since I’ve seen her. She’s calling me every name in the book and then some and accusing me of stealing the money from her and threatening to call the police. Oh how I hope she does. It would make me feel better. I’ve done a lot for her in the past eight years and it really hurts that she would pull something like this. I wouldn’t take a penny from someone without asking and then I’d give them a dollar to pay them back. THAT’S the type of person I am. I guess the only thing I can do is ignore the texts and try to convince myself that she doesn’t matter and anyone who does matter won’t believe her absurd stories.

I’m learning that being a good person only gets you heartache and pain. At this rate I will be a bitter cat lady within the next five years.

I awoke about 05:30 this morning balling my eyes out because the pain in my shoulder was so bad. I haven’t a clue what I did to make it hurt so bad. But it hasn’t gotten any better throughout the day. In fact I called my doctors office begging them to call me in a script for pain meds, me- the one who is 100% against taking any meds that would impair my ability to do my job. At this point I can’t do my job anyway. I’m currently awaiting a call back from my doctors office.
I went out and bought a cat door, $39.98, and had my Dad install it today. My cat won’t use it. Instead, she avoids it like the plague and still scratches the hell out of my door. I guess I’ll google how to make a cat use a cat door.
As I bang this post out, sitting in my room in the sweltering heat, my thermometer reads 98.5 degrees outdoors and 98 degrees indoors. I’m melting.

My Best friend got me this shirt today, after we went to see The Heat. Apparently Angry Cat is fitting for me. Haha. Angry Cat actually looks a lot like my cat, Babe, lately… she’s doesn’t do well with the heat and humidity, it makes her super cranky. Me too!

{June 24, 2013}   Laugh Til You Cry

I did. This video had me laughing so hard! I can always count on YouTube to provide me with a good laugh!

{May 28, 2013}   My Girl

I’m humming The Temptations song now.
I think it’s sweet that Babe always curls up with the clothes I wore all day. It must be because they smell like me. Kind of like when I was little and I’d wear my Dad’s t-shirts as night shirts because they “smelled like Daddy”.

Babe curled up on my jeans, sleeping soundly.

My only complaint today is that I’m going on 34 hours without sleep. The pain makes any attempt at restful sleep impossible. I’m so exhausted I’ve been sick to my stomach.

The next four days are going to be very busy and long. Tomorrow I have a meeting at the Fire Station, then physical therapy followed by a visit to the pain clinic.  Then I have to get up at 04:30 Thursday morning to take my best friend for surgery, where I will stay the night with her and bring her home Friday afternoon. Then Saturday is the big day- my brother is getting married!

It will be a miracle if I don’t have a meltdown before it’s all over. It doesn’t take much to overwhelm me.

Coyotes, Fisher Cats and (yes) Beavers. Which is why this crazy cat lady in-practice only allows her kitty outside on a harness and leash. She’s grown quite accustomed to it. For the almost four years she’s owned me she’s been an indoor cat only, and the previous three years she was a shelter cat. This Summer, Babe has shown interest in going outside and she’s even escaped a few times, so I bought her a soft, mesh harness and we’ve been going for little adventures, morning, day and night. However, this evening the rain is pounding down and she’s quite unhappy with me for not taking her out. She’s spent the last couple of hours “hiding” from me, no doubt publishing me for being so cruel. She’s never far from my side, so this is her version of hiding:

Sarge

Intro:
Meet Sarge, my seven year old Husky/German Shepherd. Sarge weighs 110 pounds. He’s a big dog.

This morning Babe brought another mouse to my bedside and woke me up. I didn’t freak out this time. I went downstairs to get my coffee and Sarge was standing to my left, Babe to my right (mouse in mouth). Babe let the mouse go and it went straight for Sarge, running up the poor dog’s front leg. Sarge freaked out, ran through the house and up the stairs with all he had. Apparently my dog is not only afraid of thunder, my brother, small dogs, church bells and snow falling off of the roof, but he’s scared to death of mice, too! What a big, protective dog I’ve got!

I have no idea where the mouse went. Babe and I have not found it yet. This worries me slightly because the mouse she caught yesterday morning was a fat little brown field mouse and the one she had this morning was a skinny little grey one.

Let’s hope that morning won’t bring another tortured mouse with it.

Where's Waldo?

Babe is tired out today. Maybe it has something to do with our eventful early morning?
4:20 am- Babe comes to my bedside with a squeaking, injured mouse to show me her prize. (Little secret about me- I’m scared of small things that move fast, like spiders and mice). Of course, I freaked out, Babe took off and the injured, bleeding mouse got away. I have searched everywhere for this early morning rodent and cannot find it. I wonder where it will turn up? I hope it doesn’t…
