My Best friend got me this shirt today, after we went to see The Heat. Apparently Angry Cat is fitting for me. Haha. Angry Cat actually looks a lot like my cat, Babe, lately… she’s doesn’t do well with the heat and humidity, it makes her super cranky. Me too!

{June 26, 2013}   The Heat

I’m pretty excited. On Friday I’m going to the movie theater with two of my best friends to see the new movie, The Heat. It looks like it’ll be hilarious. It doesn’t hurt that Sandra Bullock is in it πŸ˜‰ , and Melissa McCarthy has been one of my favorite actresses since she was on Gilmore Girls. Check out one of the trailers:

After such a crazy, busy week (and it’s only Wednesday) I have a pretty slow day today. I have a doctor’s appointment at 4:pm today, a meeting at 6:pm tonight and then I have to clean a house at 7:pm tonight.

I’ve got my sights fixed on Friday πŸ™‚

{January 29, 2013}   Ill Discoveries

Meaning things I discovered while in bed recuperating from that killer migraine and the exhausted laziness that settled in after it was gone.

1. I can watch all of the seasons of The L WordΒ  for free on my Kindle using my Amazon Prime membership.

2. I can watch several gay/lesbian genre movies on my Kindle for free using my Amazon Prime membership.

3. I can stay in my room for two days straight and no one notices that I’m ‘missing’ (Hmmm, good or bad?).

And Then Came LolaLast night I watched a movie called And Then Came Lola (found under lesbian movies). It was a good movie. It’s a little bit confusing in the beginning because they do three different takes of the same scene throughout the movie. But once you figure it out it makes perfect sense. You’ll find yourself cheering on Lola and trying to tell her what to do differently (kind of like in horror movies when you find yourself yelling “don’t look behind the shower curtain fool!”). Don’t worry, she figures it out! The best thing about this lesbian drama is that it’s not all about sex and nudity. I can’t stand how so many lesbian movies portray lesbians as being horny sex toys. You do see some skin in this movie but there’s no real nudity. At least someone knows how to leave something to the imagination.

You should totally watch it. And you have no excuse not to if you have an Amazon Prime membership, because it’s free!

These Things Hidden

I just finished reading Heather Gudenkauf’s novel These Things Hidden. Excellent read! Just when you think you have the hidden things (secrets) figured out, she reveals the truths and they’re not at all what you expected. She keeps the mystery going, suspense-fully, right to the last page of the book. I can’t possibly give it a good enough review, you just have to read it for yourself.

My goal is to be completely lazy (except when my pager goes off) until I have to get my shit together to see my therapist Thursday morning. That gives me two days for myself, for my selfishness. I’ve been selfish a lot lately and I’m slowly learning to like it. That could be a good thing, or it could be a bad thing. I guess it depends on how you look at it, or how far I take it πŸ˜‰

{October 20, 2012}   Who Doesn’t Love a Good Laugh?

So I ended up staying up until about four this morning. When I got into bed and turned my TV on for background noise I found that there was a Tyler Perry movie marathon going on. I’ve never seen any of his movies because the previews looked incredibly obnoxious, however when I turned it on his “Madea Goes To Jail” was airing. I got caught up in it and before I knew it I was laughing until my belly hurt. Madea is what I picture my Dad’s late mother to be like if she was African American. And taller than four-foot-eleven. My favorite scene was the very end where Madea has an Anger Management session with the great Dr. Phil McGraw:

This was by far Dr. Phil’s best movie appearance yet! I also watched Tyler Perry’s “Why I Got Married”, but I found myself crying for Sheila more than laughing. Her situation reminded me of my Aunt and her ex-husband, who was just down-right cruel about her weight and even took to shooting her in the ass with a BB gun while she prepared his meals. But like Sheila my Aunt finally saw how mean and degrading her ex was and left him, only to find an amazing man who loves everything about her.

So, surprisingly, I found that I do like Tyler Perry’s movies and I look forward to seeing his others.

{October 12, 2012}   Whoa

I have decided I AM going out to the movies tonight. Crazy, I know. We’re going to see Pitch Perfect. It looks like it’s going to be hilarious and I love comedies:

Hopefully it’s as good as the previews!

Last night just as our EMS meeting was getting started the room erupted in everyone’s pagers going off. Two vehicle MVA. So I had my LT drive the ambulance so I could get my bunker gear on on the way. When we pulled up to the scene I saw one of my cousins standing in the road. I panicked a little. Thankfully there were no injuries. But now I’m seeing why so many people work for companies outside of their town. That may be an idea for me to entertain, seeing as my family is very large and makes up a big portion of our residents. Unfortunately when we returned to the station we still had to have our meeting. We didn’t get out of there until ten o’clock. I was definitely tired and done dealing with people by then!

It seems there have been several small hits this past week, and like always things build up until you have an entire mountain of shit to deal with. I’m hoping I can leave that behind tonight and have a nice time.

Off I go to prepare.

{March 5, 2012}   More Laughs!!!

I stumbled across this advertisement for the new Despicable Me movie and laughed my ass off. I thought I’d share it and see if I could spread the laughter!
