The Chief of Police sends you birthday wishes!

I had a great birthday Friday night. I got drunk and I played card and board games. I also got a new siren for my car and I can’t wait to play with the new noise maker!

I’m not feeling so hot today. I’ve got a stomach bug and have been having some intense stomach pains. Yucky.

{February 28, 2013}   Asian Food is not for the Weak

Dear Chinese Food,
I love you, I hate you. You taste so good and your Soy Sauce could bring me to my knees. But you leave me with a headache worse than cheap Vodka.
Regretfully,
Me

I’ve always had a slight allergy to MSG, which we all know is most famous in Chinese food. It would leave me with a slight headache and a little bit of dizziness but it was worth it. That is not the case anymore. I had some Chinese takeout last night and less than an hour later it was like I got hit with the flu bug. I got a throbbing headache, I was so dizzy I couldn’t stay up right without feeling nauseous and I broke out in cold sweats. Today I still have a headache, though it’s not as bad as it was last night. I tossed and turned all night in misery. I’ve come to a conclusion: Chinese food is not worth it anymore. Good riddance you yummy, evil food.
I have my weekly fire/rescue meeting this evening and I’m hoping my EMS coordinator or Assistant Chief will have some news on how my patient (car collision victim) made out. We called for a bird to fly him to the city hospital but they weren’t flying in the snow storm. I hope our local hospital was able to stabilize him until he could be transferred. Unfortunately we don’t have a hospital within 100 miles that has the capability to handle head injuries.
My shopping plans for tomorrow have been canceled. My friend has to cover for her manager at work. I’m really not that disappointed. While I was excited about it and looking forward to it, my back has been bothering me a lot and I’m not really up for such a long drive. Not to mention she wanted to go to the bar that’s two hours away again and I really don’t feel like being out until 3am again. I think I might just go to my Aunt’s house and have a game night instead. Keep it low key. That’s more my style- calm and laid back.
But for today I’m doing nothing 🙂  Maybe later this afternoon I will hang up my punching bag. God knows I need the exercise. My calm and laid back personality curses my physical shape. I could definitely afford to lose 20 lbs. Or more. But now I’m getting way ahead of myself.

{January 10, 2013}   A Little Bit Obsessed

The L Word

I bought myself a DVR box today so that when the rare episode of The L Word airs I can record it (it usually airs in the wee hours of the morning). I’m also putting this DVR box in my bedroom so I can watch some of my favorite shows, like American Horror Story and Chelsea Lately, even when the kids are here (such shows are totally inappropriate for anyone under the age of sixteen to watch).

Now I will probably spend the next three days doing something I never do: watching TV. But that’s okay because even though my fever is gone (yay!) I still feel like poo. And today is day seven of this awful, debilitating headache. Now is a good time to start watching all those good shows. I made dinner early, the kids’ favorite: home made baked macaroni and cheese with tomato bits and crushed-cracker topping.

{October 14, 2012}   Another Good Night… Kinda

I took my new friend (we’ll call them “A”)  to my Aunt’s house last night for game night. Everyone had so much fun and got along so well. A had never played board games before! Fortunately, A now loves them and is already asking when we can do it again 🙂  It was a good night all around. Until I dropped A off at home. On my drive home I got a major headache and ended up pulling over twice because I got sick. Once I got home I continued to get sick and I spent most of the night sleeping in the bathroom next to my new best friend- the commode 😦

This morning I still have a lingering headache and my tummy still feels kind of yucky. But I’m sipping on coffee, hoping caffeine will help with the headache.

Today’s song is Everybody Talks by Neon Trees:

{September 5, 2012}   Being Ill Sucks

I’ve been feeling under the weather now for about a week. Yesterday I went to my back doctor, finally, and she was able to relieve some of my pain. However, I’m still sick. I’m not sure what it is but I’ve vomited a few times, have had diarrhea for three days straight, an awful headache and all I want to do is sleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep, and then sleep a little more. I know sleeping is the body’s way of resting, which is why we sleep so much when we are ill, but there are things I need to get done and places I have to go. Today is my parent’s TWENTY-FIFTH anniversary. And I’m still sick.

Being ill is also majorly depressing. Ugh.
