{March 20, 2014}   Hell in New England

The weather forecasters said we’d see 3″-6″ between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. We have over a foot of snow now and it’s STILL snowing hard, visibility is almost zero.
And today’s supposed to be the first day of Spring? Well played Mother Nature, well played.

{February 5, 2014}   No Snow Days for Me

We’re getting upwards of a foot of snow today. It’s falling at a rate of 1.5″-2″ per hour. What a frickin mess! I’d love to be snuggled up with the pets but I have four appointments back-to-back this morning. Thank God for Dunkin Donuts! “Make that a Turbo coffee, please!”.

{December 17, 2013}   Frosty

My drive home at 03:am this morning was in -6°F weather. Beautiful, big moon and crisp stars lined the sky.
I think even Frosty would have frozen his balls off… no pun intended!

{October 25, 2013}   Fall is Here

Fall has arrived here in the White Mountains, bringing with it the usual beautiful hues and sleet/snow. It came in quick, too. It’s currently 34.5 degrees outside and they’re predicting a heavy frost overnight tonight. I personally don’t like the cold weather. I relish the 80-90 degree summer temperatures. I guess considering my previous statement you must think I’m crazy to be living in the heart of ski country. I suppose I am, a little anyway.

There are a few things that I enjoy about the colder weather: cuddling up in front of the fireplace with a good book and my kitty, homemade Tomato Bisque, Hot Cocoa and the warm, fuzzy feeling I get when watching the snow fall from inside my warm, cozy living room. Of course work really picks up for me in the winter so I stay busy too, between chimney fires and motor vehicle accidents.

This evening I keep turning on the outside light to see the snow flurries drift silently to the ground. It amazes me how such a silent event can change so much in so little time.

{March 6, 2012}   *~Crisp Silence~*

Clear New England Winter Night

Ah! I welcome the
silence when it
comes into my mind.
Tis a rarity that my
fleeting thoughts are
quieted, that my mind
slows long enough to
appreciate the hush.
The silence welcomes
good thoughts to
permeate my thick
skull. Here and now,
not then, not next.
The red is lifted from
my eyes, I can see the
stars shining brightly
in the crisp night sky,
not a single one falling,
each one more brilliant
than the last. The
Universe is perfect this
evening, not a breeze
to stir the skeleton branches
on the maple tree. A
slight chill in the air
that keeps you grounded,
but not rooted, in reality.
The moon crawls gently
across the snow, making
it sparkle in the soft blue
light. The cold pricks my
lungs as I breathe in,
makes my breath linger
when I exhale. All is
alright in the woods
